Red Sea
The most beautiful beaches and spots of the Red Sea
Multicoloured reefs, dolphins and 24 °C water: our pick of the finest spots between Hurghada, Marsa Alam and Sinai.
Hurghada and its islands
The most accessible resort, a few hours from the Nile. It's easy to set off for the offshore reefs from here, whether with family or friends.
- Giftun Island and Mahmya Beach, white sand and turquoise water.
- The Abu Ramada coral gardens, perfect for mask and snorkel.
- Full-day boat trips, ideal for a first time.
Marsa Alam and the wild south
Further south, the mood turns wilder and more preserved. This is where marine life is at its most spectacular.
- Sataya Reef (Dolphin House), to swim with dolphins.
- Abu Dabbab Bay and its green turtles, sometimes a dugong.
- Reefs still little visited, a dream for divers.

Sharm El Sheikh and Ras Mohammed
On the Sinai side, the reefs drop sheer into the blue. Ras Mohammed National Park is one of the world's finest dive sites.
- Ras Mohammed Park, dizzying drop-offs and shoals of fish.
- Naama Bay and its reefs accessible straight from the beach.
- A possible trip to Dahab's Blue Hole, further north.
When and how to enjoy it
The Red Sea is a year-round pleasure: the water rarely drops below 21 °C in winter and nears 28 °C in summer.
- For beginners: mask, snorkel and a supervised intro dive.
- For certified divers: dive cruises and offshore reefs.
- Easy to combine a few beach days after the temples.
